IDO Hybris on AWS - Case study
IDO moves its SAP Hybris ticketing platform to AWS with Runibex
IDO (İstanbul Deniz Otobüsleri), the largest passenger and vehicle ferry operator in Turkey and the fifth largest in the world, chose the SAP Hybris e-commerce platform to update its ticket sales channels and worked with Runibex, an advanced AWS Partner Network Partner, to run it on AWS. The ticketing system scales up and down in seconds against demand that rises tenfold, and at times a hundredfold, across the holiday season. By migrating its SAP systems with Runibex, IDO saw a net sales increase of over 40 percent while also reducing overall IT costs.

About IDO (İstanbul Deniz Otobüsleri)
The Challenge
Why Amazon Web Services
IDO selected SAP Hybris for its ticket sales channels, which made the platform underneath it the next decision. That decision was made against four KPIs: performance, reliability, high accessibility and security.
Amazon Web Services was chosen for single point of access, agility, high availability, performance and compatibility, and for the ability to create and populate virtual environments on demand in real time.
The SAP on AWS architecture
- Ticketing application. Runibex built the ticketing system on AWS Elastic Beanstalk, which handles capacity preparation, load balancing, scaling and application health monitoring.
- Database. SAP HANA on AWS runs the database on SAP-certified servers for SAP Hybris.
- Sales channels. The e-commerce platform carries every IDO sales channel: the website, the mobile app, ticket booths and kiosks.
- Physical estate. IDO’s physical servers, including its database and application servers, were decommissioned.
